When we were at the most difficult time with my parents (who have Alzheimers and Dementia) we were directed to SOS. Sitters ‘ turned our very abnormal situation as normal as possible. Our parents were no longer taking care of their personal hygiene, eating properly or able to manage basic daily tasks. SOS came in with care and compassion and put our minds at ease. I can’t say enough about the care, compassion and effort put forth by SOS. When needs would arise, Jodie, along with SOS staff. was there to address each need. Before SOS came on board to care for our parents, Dad would “escape” and our life was turned upside down. In each situation SOS continues to go above and beyond to make the lives of our parents not just bearable, but happy. SOS is an organization that understands the needs of families going through severe and difficult times. Because of the service we have received, we can now tend to the needs of our children and grandchildren. SOS has been reliable, trustworthy and they have put our families minds and hearts at ease. -Rundle Family

Growing up I spent a lot of time with my uncle who was paralyzed from the waist down. Seeing him go through the struggle of finding good aides that had his best interest at heart made me realize that their aren’t that many of them out there. When he passed away in 2008, I told myself that I was going to make a difference. Through school I was able to volunteer at one of the local nursing homes. We were very limited on what we were allowed to do, but it was enough for me to realize this is my calling. A few months after my 18th birthday, I completed the training to become a personal care aide and from there a certified nursing assistant.
I’ve been an aide for almost 3 years now and I’m so grateful that this is the path that I chose. There is no better feeling than knowing that you’re making a positive impact in someone’s life. Everyday that I go into work I’m faced with new and meaningful experiences that I wouldn’t trade for the world. Just knowing that I’m giving my clients the patience, respect and care that they deserve is truly remarkable.

This coming December will be 9 years since I moved to this country. January 2019 will mark my 9 year anniversary working with Sitters On Standby.
Joining this team as a Nanny for the first 5 years, and then as a Care Giver for seniors, has been a roller coaster of emotions. All of them have been a learning experience for which I am grateful.
Thanks to SOS, I have had the chance to help wonderful parents raise some awesome children. Through that experience, I managed to make new friends and build lasting relationships with some of the families. Although I don’t work as a nanny anymore, I’m still part of their life and I’m so grateful they’re in mine.
I’m currently working as an Aide for Seniors and it has turned out to be one of my biggest blessings. This is so much more than just a job to me. I feel I have the chance to really help someone in the simplest most meaningful ways. When they open the door to their life and experiences, you are given the opportunity to learn so much more than books could ever teach. You are given the opportunity to be the best you can be. I truly cherish all of the moments I have shared with all my clients and look forward to so many more. Nothing is more satisfying than looking at their faces at the end of the day and seeing a smile.
For all those reasons, I appreciate every single family I have worked through the years and allowed me to be a small part of their lives. I am also so grateful to SOS for giving me the opportunity to take this path.
